The LIFE RESQUE ALPYR project was present at the 2023 European Researchers Night in italy

The European Researchers’ Night is a Europe-wide public event that aims to displays the diversity of science, and its benefits, to citizens. In particular, several public and private research institutes and organizations were present in the city of Aosta (Italy) included a stand of the Mont Avic Natural Park, one of the protected areas were the LIFE RESQUE ALPYR took place.

Moreover, during the mornings of 28th and 29th September, the Italian team was involved in activities specifically destined to students. We illustrated how allochthonous fish, and fish in general, introduced in alpine lakes could cause several impacts on the local fauna, dramatically decreasing abundance of invertebrates and amphibians. By means of illustrations but also of “real” samples collected in lakes with and without fish we made the students see “with their own eyes” how severe could be the negative effects of fish introduction in alpine lakes.

The students were also invited to see the invertebrate species object of the study, through binoculars and to try to “identify” them!
