It is situated in the SCI Alt Pallars, located in the central-eastern Pyrenees between the Aran Valley and Andorra. In this lake recreational fishing is no longer an option because in the past, attempts to establish a stable population of salmonids failed. However, minnows, used in the past as live bite for salmonid fishing, derived into a stable population in that lake. The lake was included as a target site for fish removal action in the former LIFE+ LIMNOPIRINEUS conservation project with significant reduction of minnow population densities. In the present project the aim is to continue with minnow removal to attain eradication.
