The lake is situated in the SCI Mont Avic and SPA Mont Avic and Mont Emilius, a large wilderness area located in the mountains of the municipalities of Champdepraz and Champorcher (Aosta).  Rapid trout eradication protocols will be applied to recover the lake ecosystems and species (Rana temporaria and aquatic invertebrates) and its connection with surrounding terrestrial habitats and species. Th action aims to optimize the efforts needed to achieve total fish eradication, to increase the replicability of this conservation strategy
