The lake is located inside the SCI Gran Paradiso, a large protected area between the Piemonte and Valle d’Aosta regions. Lake Miserino is surrounded by public land and by bare rocks. Rapid trout eradication protocols will be applied to recover the lake ecosystems and species (Rana temporaria and aquatic invertebrates) and its connection with surrounding terrestrial habitats and species. This action aims to optimize the efforts needed to achieve total fish eradication, to increase the replicability of this conservation strategy.
