The lake is situated in the SCI Mont Avic and SPA Mont Avic and Mont Emilius, a large wilderness area in the mountains of the municipalities of Champdepraz and Champorcher (Aosta). Specifically, the lake is located near the Gran Lago in the Val Chalamy.  The soft water which characterises this habitat type contains low to moderate levels of nutrients. The plant community is characterised by amphibious short perennial vegetation, with shoreweed Littorellaunifloraand is affected by alien fish. In this lake we will undertake minnow eradication using non-chemical methods to reestablish new populations of the objective species Rana temporaria.
