The lake is situated in the SCI Mont Avic and SPA Mont Avic and Mont Emilius, a large wilderness area located in the mountains of the municipalities of Champdepraz and Champorcher (Aosta). The soft water which characterises this habitat type contains low to moderate levels of nutrients. The plant community is characterised by amphibious short perennial vegetation, with shoreweed Littorella uniflora and is affected by alien fish. In this lake we are conducting minnow eradication using non-chemical methods.
