It is situated in the SCI Aigüestortes in the peripheral area of Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici National Park. This lake, like many others in the Pyrenees, has experienced minnow introductions with profound effects on biodiversity and trophic structure. In this lake we are conducting experimental eradication of minnows with chemical methods with the final goal of developing a safe protocol for the use of piscicides as a strategic step to reverse minnow invasion effects in mountain lakes.
